This is a detail of the portrait of Lord Balfour of Burleigh, Chancellor of Stirling University, a delightful subject, and by the time the portrait was finished, a firm friend.

On my web site you will find a selection of about sixty portraits. Their subjects include academics, scientists, ambassadors, peers, QCs, judges and medics, all distinguished in their fields, although the status of the sitters is less important to me than their characters. There are also children, from five-year olds to teenagers. From sea captain to former nun, there are people from all walks of life and all ages. You will find portrait heads, single and double portraits and family groups. Many of the pictures were public commissions; others are of private individuals. Among these are the portraits painted for love, of husbands, wives and children, and those of my own family.
